Prologue: Go Wayback is a new single-player open world adventure survival game by PlayerUnknown Productions. It is catching the attention of both casual and hardcore gamers. If you are a PC gamer and are into early Access, the developer’s limited-time exclusive play test is the chance you’ve been waiting for.
An upcoming single-player survival game by Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene and his new studio PlayerUnknown Productions, Prologue: Go Wayback is also a tech showcase. Different from the usual zombie survival games or battle royale, Prologue: Go Wayback is set in a realistic wilderness environment. You don’t need an introduction; the name speaks for itself. As the title suggests, Prologue: Go Wayback is an emergent open world survival adventure that is set in a vast ever-changing landscape where you are equipped with the bare minimum weapons, a map, and a weather station. Your aim is to survive. However, that wish can take longer than anticipated.
Prepare for familiar survival skills cranked up a notch: you’ll hunt and gather for food, manage your body heat, seek refuge from intense storms, and traverse through procedurally generated terrain (courtesy of some cutting-edge machine learning). Each attempt in Prologue: Go Wayback drops you in a new map with randomized obstacles to overcome, changing the experience every single time. In isolation, the aim of this Prologue game is to stand out in the sea of PC survival games by focusing on world exploration, realistic survival mechanics, and player-driven narratives. And the best part? The developers are working alongside the community to build the game, kicking off with playtest sessions during early access.
A survivor warms up by a campfire in the wilderness of Prologue: Go Wayback.
Staying warm is crucial in Prologue: Go Wayback’s harsh wilderness. As a survivor, learning to start fires and building dependable shelters is a necessity. Unlike many games in this genre, managing temperature is a key feature – a balanced thermoregulation strategy must be maintained to avoid a complete wilderness defeat. The game becomes much harder without guidance, so every decision you take and every fire you light matters.
All players can now sign-up to participate in a closed beta test on the official PlayerUnknown Productions Discord server. Closed Beta is running until May 14, 2025.
